What is Catch Up in Caledonia?

When does the event start and end?

How does the event work?

• For the duration of the week long event, newly created level 1 characters will be automatically zoned into the Caledonia battleground where they will vie for control against the enemy realms!
  • This will be the ONLY way to get inside the battleground zone. Once inside, characters can voluntarily leave but CANNOT return!
  • All monsters, center-keep guards, and siege weapons are removed for the event. The only way to progress is by defeating realm enemies in battle and completing the related quests.
  • Charm-pet classes will be able to create a pet to charm at their realm's portal keep.
• Experience, bounty, and realm point bonuses will be granted to both free and subscribed accounts in the battleground to help them progress!
• Earn bounty points for completing quests and defeating enemy realm players and use them to purchase level-appropriate gear as you strive to 50 and then master and champion levels!
• All characters will begin and remain in the same Caledonia zone for the entirety of the event.
  • The following level caps will be in place for all characters in Caledonia and will increase as follows every 24 hours:
    • Day 1 (Monday): Level 19 maximum
    • Day 2 (Tuesday): Level 29 
    • Day 3 (Wednesday): Level 39 
    • Day 4 (Thursday) : Level 49
    • Days 5-7 (Fri-Mon): Level 50
  • Characters that reach the day's level cap will still be able to earn realm and bounty points. However, please note that there are realm point hard caps to each level and should you hit the realm point cap, you will stop gaining realm points until you progress in levels.
• Characters that are 5 levels or more below the day's level cap will receive the Caledonia Boost buff.
  • This buff greatly increases the damage dealt and greatly reduces damage received from characters that do not have the buff (higher level characters)!
  • Characters with the Caledonia Boost buff active will also DOUBLE the XP and BP rewards for themselves and their group!
  • When the level cap reaches 49 the buff will be given out to characters 3 or more levels under the cap.
• Overwhelming Force system:
  • When 1 realm outnumbers another by 3 to 1 odds or more and has at least 25+ members in the area of the kill(s), the deathspam will change to "killed by overwhelming force!" and the following restrictions will apply:
    • Quest kill-credit will not be given for overwhelming force kills.
    • Realm points are also drastically reduced for overwhelming force kills.
    • This system is designed to encourage groups to roam around separately more during the event!
    • These restrictions only apply within Caledonia and not in any other RvR zone.

How far will I be able to progress?

• Keep walls will remain destroyed keep gates and postern doors will remain open, and guards and other keep NPCs will not spawn
• The Protection Obelisk will be disabled and unavailable
• Solo quest objectives will return to the keep areas

Phase One Quest Details

• Hunt for the Crown: Liberator - collect 5 Pages from Keep Lords and Demon Invaders within the Crossroads to complete the quest, repeatable

Power Grows and Grows

Our book! Our lost book of power is finally within our grasp! As the veil thins, sections of our unholy Tome have appeared around the island of Ellan Vannin, a land now pulsing with dark energy. You, our most devoted follower, must scour every inch of Ellan Vannin and its surrounding lands to unearth fragments of the Tome and retrieve them before the feeble forces of light can mend their wretched Circlet. It is certain that the presence of even the tiniest fragments of the Tome of Fiends has already wreaked havoc upon the feeble hearts of those who dwell nearby. We anticipate that the feeble mortals aligning with the demonic cause are concealing any shards of the Tome they stumble upon. You must get them back!

We charge you with the task of seizing the tightly held shards of power, gathering the hearts for corruption, and scouring the island for any materials that might have slipped through the veil. The reconstruction of the Tome demand power items to facilitate the restoration. And then, armed with the might of the corrupted Tome, we shall exact our revenge upon the feeble-minded fiends where it inflicts the most excruciating pain!

Our Followers will enjoy true superiority around the northern crossroads of the frontiers. Bask in the greatness we offer:

Phase One Quest Details

• Hunt for the Time: Gatecrasher - collect 5 Pages from Keep Lords and Demon Invaders within the Crossroads to complete the quest, repeatable
• Hunt for the Tome: Cull the Weak - kill 25/5 enemies for hearts - repeatable 25 player kill quest while grouped, 5 solo
• Hunt for the Tome: Collector - collect 30 Locuses of Power on Ellan Vannin - repeatable gather quest

Players alignment to the Demonic and Vigilant paths have been reset from Crossroads Covenant original event. Players must speak to Gwynn at the relic towns to select their paths and can switch to a new path, or stay on their previous path, but only once, so choose wisely! Speak to the path NPC to join that path.


Notes:

• Buggane and Battlefield pots (all types) will not stack with the event buff. Battlefield pots will coexist but not be active. Buggane pots will overwrite the event buff RP%. A charge will be used up if a player uses a Buggane or Battlefield pot. Mithril RP Bonus pots will stack with the event buffs.
• Cloaks and wings from the first Crossroads Covenant event will be available to players further into the event (so make sure you're on you're preferred path!), along with Battlefield potions.
• You do not need to participate in Phase One in order to take part in Phase 2 or 3. However, you will miss out on the Phase One rewards (event cloak & battlefield potion) if you do skip Phase One. Each Phase has rewards at the end.
• The Harvest Crystal quest on Ellan Vannin and the Ruined Keeps has ended.

 
Rewards for Completing Event

There are two rewards for completing the overall event:

• New cosmetic mask
• New Mythirian (details later during the event)
   

Demonic Mask	Vigilant Mask

Phase one of our Crossroads Covenant event returns today Friday, October 6th, 2023! The Crossroads Covenant event will expand to Phase 2 (Darkness Falls) and 3 (Otherworld) as the event progresses.

Crossroads Covenant has seen incredible RvR over the first week! Based on player feedback, we’ve made the following adjustments:

• Cull the Weak and Purge the Wicked quests have had their objectives reduced from 25 Souls/Hearts to 15 Souls/Hearts and rewards changed from 5K BP/RP to 3K BP/RP.
• Note: previous stacks of 25 will have changed to 15. Souls/hearts will stack to 15 going forward.
• The Gatecrasher and Liberator quests have had their objective reduced from 5 to 3, rewards changed from 5K BP/RP to 3K.
• Collector and Salvage quests have had their objective reduced from 30 pieces of the Locus of Power to 15, rewards changed from 5KBP/1.5K RP to 2.5K BP/750 RP.
o Note: This is the exact same RP/BP per item turned in.

Additional Event Reward Information:

• Players who complete phase 1 quests will receive your faction’s cloak reward from the previous event in addition to a Battlefield Potion. Additionally, these faction cloaks will be able to be stored in personal and housing vaults at the end of the first event phase.
• Players are not required to have completed phase 1 quests to earn phase 2 rewards which include the special wing effect for your faction.

• Similarly, phase 3 rewards which include faction masks and Mythirians do not require the completion of any previous event phases.

Phase 2 – The conflict spills into the dank and dangerous tunnels of Darkness Falls

Darkness Falls will be open to all realms beginning Friday, October 20th, ending early morning on Monday, October 23rd. 

Phase 3 will commence on Monday, October 23rd.Please keep an eye on the Camelot herald for more details on the final phase of this event!

  • Note: Legion is a group encounter and has a chance to spawn at 1 of 5 random locations. A portal will appear in a specific location shortly before Legion appears.

• [Enemy Territory] Eviction - Remove 25 demonic cultists from this plane, repeatable
• [Enemy Territory] An Unexpected Mess - Defeat Legion, repeatable
  • Note: Legion is a group encounter and has a chance to spawn at 1 of 5 random locations. A portal will appear in a specific location shortly before Legion appears.

• Players can only leave the portal areas of their realm to roam Odin's Gate through the Obelisk within the keeps. Speak to the Obelisk and click [ready] to port you and your group into the fight within Odin's Gate. Leaving the portal keep from the front doors will direct you back inside.
• Players can bind in this location and leave at will via the Teleporters.
• Various NPC's are available in the portal keeps including: Healer, Smith, Hastener, Vault Keeper, Recharger, and Realm Enhancements.
• Camps of mobs are scattered throughout Odin's Gate with charmable level ranges.
• There is no realm war (/rw) available for this zone, only /map.
• The Glacier Giant guards the Jamtland Mountains zone entrance. Attempting to cross the zone line into Jamtland Mountains will port players a short distance back into Odin's Gate.
• Odin's Gate has a 150% RP bonus enabled in the zone.
  • Note: Ellan Vannin's additional zone bonus has been disabled.

• *You will need 4 free inventory spaces – so please ensure that you have the available inventory slots prior to picking up your Anniversary Gift! *
• A note about MTX Respecs: Please remember that accounts can only have one active at a time. If you should be awarded this item, it is recommended that you use it prior to obtaining the Anniversary Gift on other characters.
• Some items from last year have been replaced with the recently added potions.
• Albion note: the King's Royal guard has been moved closer to the main Camelot teleporter in order to facilitate easier port in to the Throne Room.
• Anniversary Gifts will be available until November 1st.

The Haunted cities, candy and costumes, pumpkin patches in the Frontiers, and the return of the Mournful King instance await you!

Festivities begin today, October 27th and will conclude on Monday, November 6th.


 

Pumpkin Patch rewards

• Defeat the hallowed ghost, mummy, night bat, walking dead, or gooey slime at the pumpkin patches for a rare chance to get Trick or Treat or Keep-Chest potions!
• These rewards drop without needing to be on any quest!
• Trick or Treat potions can be used on your realm-mates to give them randomized costumes!
• These potions will be usable in RvR for the three days surrounding and including Halloween!

Haunt or Be Haunted

• John Tobin in Cotswold, Foa Muldisson in Mularn, and Nera in Mag Mell have studies to conduct.
• Be rewarded handsomely with gold, realm points, and the Wings of Haunting cosmetic effect! What lengths will you go to get your hands on a free pair of the wings!?

Event Shop

Pumpkin Head pre-set patterns, new spooky Consignment Merchant costumes, and the Wings of Haunting cosmetic spell effect are now for sale for mithril at your realm's capital city's Event Shop! Visit the Event Shop soon because it disappears on November 6th!

A Ghostly Harvest quest

• The Ghostly Harvest Quest offers players level 45 and up a dangerous adventure in the frontiers. Speak with John Tobin on the Cotswold Bridge, Foa Muldisson outside the Jordheim North Gates, or Nera by the road in Mag Mell to begin the quest. (Note: Players who completed this quest last year will now be offered it again.)
• Treat sellers have been spotted selling sugary confections inside Meath, Erikstaad, and Caerwent.
• The consignment merchants would like to show you their Halloween spirit! Pick up the merchant and place it back down on your house porch and he will change into a Halloween outfit for you!
• Be aware adventurers! Ghosts haunt the streets of your capital cities and have also been spotted in Mag Mell, Aegirhamn, and Campacorentin Station!
• The horses you once rode have joined the spirit realm. (This affects stable and merchant horses only - not player controlled horses.)
• Something strange has happened to all of the puppies.
• The pumpkins have been carved into jack o' lanterns!
• A trio of crazy old women have been spotted selling costume potions inside Camelot, Jordheim, and Tir na Nog.
• The costume potions last 15 minutes each and come in a variety of flavors.
• The costume potions work best if you remove your helm and armor.
• You cannot digest another costume potion if you are transformed into any of the monster forms.
• The costume potions' magics are short-lived and the potions will be useless after the festivities end so don't horde them.
• Some of the costume potions allow you to take the form of the enemy, so don't be scared if you see some in your capital city or housing zones, it's just your realm mates playing dress up!
• The costumes and potions only work while you are in the capital cities or housing zones. You cannot use them outside of these zones and if you leave the zone while in costume, you will lose the effect.
• As always, the days before, during, and after Halloween these potions can be used in RvR (With the exception of pixies and ghosts potions, which are not usable in the frontiers... ever)

A Hallowed Lost Quest

• Level 50 players should visit the ghostly queen, Lenore, in each realm's capital city to receive the quest 'A Hallowed Lost' so long as they haven't already completed it.
• Visit the pumpkin patches in the frontier to find the buttertoe candy pieces Lenore needs.
• Only the pumpkin patches in Ellan Vannin, Pennine Mountains, Jamtland Mountains, and Breifine drop the five buttertoe candy pieces she needs.
• You'll want to get this year's Ghostly Harvest quest to help guide you to the pumpkin patches!
• Defeat the hallowed ghost, mummy, night bat, walking dead, or gooey slime at the pumpkin patches to get the candy pieces.
• Buttertoe candy pieces no longer drop unless the player has the 'A Hallowed Lost' quest and hasn't completed it yet.
• Different patches have different candy pieces available.
• Earn a new friend for your efforts!
• Please note that this quest is only able to be completed once per character, including characters that completed it in previous years.

Mournful King Event

• The instance dungeon, the Castle of the Mournful King, awaits those willing to brave its powerful ruler's fury!
• Level 50 players should speak with Lenore to teleport to the instance.
• This instance is meant to be extremely challenging and is therefore entirely optional. 

• Re-skinned hallowed weapons and armor
• Nevermore's Broken Bone
• Hallowed Effusion of Comprehension potion
• Otherworldly helms
• Doppelganger and other rare mythirians
• Supremacy, celerity, omni-healing, or omni-regen potions
• A Book of Recall

• Hallowed Draught of Celerity
• Hallowed Empowering Elixir

• The Mournful King and Nevermore monsters no longer drop rewards directly other than the king's remains.
• The Mournful King spawns the Mournful King's Loot Chest in the center of the Hallowed Ruins when defeated.
• This chest will despawn after 20 seconds, so be sure to grab your loot quickly!
• Characters can interact with the chest and receive 1 guaranteed reward per day but can still participate in the instance as many times as desired.
• There is a greater than 50% chance to receive a re-skinned hallowed armor or weapon each day!

Players with a Phase 2 level 10 or unleveled Mythirian will need to level the Mythirian stages in order to unlock the final version.

Additional Rewards:

Those who have completed all 3 phases of the event can also obtain the below quests from Gwynn and receive their new cosmetic mask reward and a Battlefield RP Potion. The Demonic Mantle and the Visage of the Vigilant Patterns may be applied to any helm to give them the appearance of these masks. Understanding that helms often change, Gwynn soon intends to start offering a replacement pattern provided you were eligible for the original reward. 

Players of the Demonic Order may obtain these rewards via the quest: "A Bargain Fulfilled"

Players loyal to the Order of Vigilance may obtain these rewards via the quest: "Virtue Signaling"



Note: Ruined Keeps will remain until Harvest event.

December 4th sees the return of the Catch Up in Caledonia event, our 10th such event! Followed by our Midwinter event, including Midwinter Gifts, later in December. And maybe a couple of surprises between now and the end of the year ;)

Harvest Quest

• The realms are humming with anticipation for their upcoming feasts and local festivals!
  • Help the realms' Festival Steward recover a lost shipment of food!
    • The repeatable RvR quest '[Harvest] Lost Turkey' is now available at each realm's strength relic town at the Festival Steward NPC!
      • Earn bounty & realm points for your efforts!
• The Harvest Event will run until Tuesday, November 28th, 2023.

Farmer's Market Festival

• The Farmer's Market Festival makes its return to the following locations:
  • Albion: Ludlow
  • Midgard: Vasudheim
  • Hibernia: Ardee
• Visit the Festival Matron and go bobbing for apples to earn some house trophies!
• Let Captain Mack in Albion, Captain Marks in Midgard, or Captain Geddes in Hibernia regale you with their tales of a shark THIS big on the high seas.
• The Farmer's Market Festival will run until Tuesday, November 28th, 2023.

We are excited to reveal that the recently announced Catch-Up in Caledonia event will be Player vs. Player!

The spirit of Mordred has returned and has cursed the Battleground at Caledonia. This evil has infected the hearts and souls of all who enter, destroying their ability to distinguish friend from foe. Caledonia’s PvP mode will allow players to take up arms against their realm-mates and ally with members of enemy realms. Click 'More' below for details!

The PvP ruleset is specifically limited to the battleground of Caledonia and will remain active for the duration of the event. The standard Catch-Up in Caledonia dynamic of daily level caps and accelerated progression remains largely intact.

The PvP nature of this event includes the following:

• Players may create and join cross realm groups
• Everyone not in your group is considered an enemy, and may be attacked
• Those who fall in combat will release to one of the 3 staging areas which function as safe zones where players may train, regroup, ready-up, and re-enter the fight
• Players may port between all 3 safe zones via the group port Obelisk
• Chat channels such as Region, LFG, and Advice will be visible to all realms

Additional updates and changes include:

• Battlegroups will be unavailable for the PvP Caledonia event (chat groups will still be available)
• Overwhelming Force will not be available for this event
• Newly created characters will be removed from starter guilds
• Certain spells and abilities have been updated, and will be reverted at the conclusion of the event

Players participating in Mordred’s Revenge will get the chance to earn the new title: Kinslayer!

The event starts Monday, December 4th at 3PM EDT / 9PM CET and will conclude on Monday, December 11th at 3PM EDT / 9PM CET. Be sure not to miss this one! Gather your allies and your enemies and start working on those new group set ups!
