Hot Fix: 15th Anniversary Loyalty Rewards

$

Happy birthday Dark Age of Camelot!

Fifteen years ago today, the servers were filled with the first wide-eyed players eager to explore the realms of Albion, Midgard, and Hibernia. Little did they know they were going to help form the best community of players in gaming and experience a three-sided war unlike any other. This update is a big thank you to all of you here celebrating the anniversary and is especially for those players that have been here since that humble beginning fifteen years ago.

Without further ado, check out the notes below!

  • The Kings in each realm are offering a new quest, depending on your loyalty over the years:
    • Accounts that have accumulated 15 years of subscription time OR that were a current, paid subscription on September 27th, 2016 will receive the quest: Loyalty Rewarded
      • This quest will reward players with a unique, class-specific cloak!
      • Check out the awesome cloak art below!
      • These cloaks will unlock powerful stats and abilities as they are leveled!
      • Characters must be level 50 and CL15 to receive the quest.
    • Accounts that do not meet the above requirements will receive the quest: Loyalty Needed
      • This quest will require players on Ywain to capture a keep before being able to earn their class-specific cloak.
      • This quest will require players on Gaheris to defeat a Herald on Ellan Vannin before being able to earn their class-specific cloak.
      • Check out the awesome cloak art below!
      • These cloaks will unlock powerful stats and abilities as they are leveled!
      • Characters must be level 50 and CL15 to receive the quest.

  • Accounts that have accumulated 15 years of subscription time OR that were a current, paid subscription on September 27th, 2016 can visit the Census Overseer NPC in each realm's capital city to receive a 15 year housing trophy.
    • Please note that Census Overseers will now properly reward accounts that have had 5+ years of accumulated subscription time with their loyalty rewards. This should fix issues with EU accounts not being able to receive the 5 year rewards.

  • Any accounts that have accumulated 15 years of subscription time will receive the new title "Honored Elder" upon login. To view your character's titles in-game, type /title.
    • Going forward, any accounts that accumulate 15 years of subscription time will also receive the new title "Honored Elder".

Radar Bans

We are happy to see that the overall number of cheaters from previous passes is much lower this time around though some players still haven't gotten the message. As such, we have issued the following permanent bans and suspensions:

  • A little over one hundred accounts were issued permanent bans for either extreme usage or repeat offenses of radar hacks.
  • Several dozen accounts were issued 7-day suspensions for low usage and first time offenses of radar hacks.

While we're still working towards completely eliminating radar and all other cheats from the game, this is another solid step towards that goal. Happy hunting out there!

Halloween Event 2016: Trick or Treat

October is not just our favorite month because of the Anniversary, it's also Halloween! And that means haunted cities, candy and costumes, pumpkin patches in the Frontiers, and this year... some exciting new tricks and treats to enjoy!

Check out the teaser video for a peek into the new content with more details listed below!

Festivities begin today, October 18th and will conclude on Monday, November 7th.

  • Level 50 players should visit the ghostly queen, Lenore, in each realm's capital city to receive the new quest 'A Hallowed Lost'.
    • Visit the pumpkin patches in the frontier to find the buttertoe candy pieces Lenore needs and get some exciting new Trick or Treat costumes for your realmmates!
      • Only the pumpkin patches in Ellan Vannin, Pennine Mountains, Jamtland Mountains, and Breifine drop the five buttertoe candy pieces she needs.
        • You'll want to get this year's Ghostly Harvest quest to help guide you to the pumpkin patches!
        • Defeat the hallowed ghost, mummy, night bat, walking dead, or gooey slime at the pumpkin patches to get the candy pieces.
        • Different patches have different candy pieces available.
      • Trick or Treat potions can be used on your realm-mates to give them randomized costumes!
        • These potions will be usable in RvR for the three days surrounding and including Halloween!
    • Earn a new friend for your efforts!
  • A new instance dungeon, the Castle of the Mournful King, awaits those willing to brave its powerful ruler's fury!
    • Level 50 players should speak with Lenore to teleport to the instance.
    • Earn armor and weapons with stats you've seen before - but with different skins!
    • Draughts of Supremacy and Otherworldly Helms also have a chance to drop!
    • This instance is meant to be extremely challenging and is therefore entirely optional and not required to complete the new quest.
  • Lenore can be found in the following locations within the capital cities:
    • Camelot: The Church of Albion
    • Jordheim: The Temple of the Aesir
    • Tir na Nog: Alainn Cuir's courtyard

  • The Ghostly Harvest Quest offers players level 45 and up a dangerous adventure in the frontiers. Speak with John Tobin on the Cotswold Bridge, Foa Muldisson outside the Jordheim North Gates, or Nera by the road in Mag Mell to begin the quest. (Note: Players who completed this quest last year will now be offered it again.)
  • Treat sellers have been spotted selling sugary confections inside Meath, Erikstaad, and Caerwent.
  • The consignment merchants would like to show you their Halloween spirit! Pick up the merchant and place it back down on your house porch and he will change into a Halloween outfit for you!
  • Be aware adventurers! Ghosts haunt the streets of your capital cities as the pumpkin moon rises! Ghosts have also been spotted in Mag Mell, Aegirhamn, and Campacorentin Station.
  • The horses you once rode have joined the spirit realm. (This affects stable and merchant horses only - not player controlled horses.)
  • Something strange has happened to all of the puppies.
  • The pumpkins have been carved into jack o' lanterns!
  • A trio of crazy old women have been spotted selling costume potions inside Camelot, Jordheim, and Tir na Nog.
    • The costume potions last 15 minutes each and come in a variety of flavors.
    • The costume potions work best if you remove your helm and armor.
    • You cannot digest another costume potion if you are transformed into any of the monster forms.
    • The costume potions' magics are short-lived and the potions will be useless after the festivities end so don't horde them.
    • Some of the costume potions allow you to take the form of the enemy, so don't be scared if you see some in your capital city or housing zones, it's just your realm mates playing dress up!
    • The costumes and potions only work while you are in the capital cities or housing zones. You cannot use them outside of these zones and if you leave the zone while in costume, you will lose the effect.
    • As always, the days before, during, and after Halloween these potions can be used in RvR (With exception to pixies and ghosts potions, which are not usable in the frontiers ever)
  • NOTE: Players will need to logout and re-run the patcher in order to see the pumpkin moon, loot bags, and pumpkin patches

Each of the top 10 winners will receive an email requesting the address they'd like the poster delivered to - please follow the email's instructions carefully!

This means that some of those that finished just outside the top 10 could yet win a poster!

If you won, or even if you're close to winning, please ensure that your account's email address is up to date with a valid, working email and be sure to keep an eye on your spam filter over the next week:  if we don't get a reply, we can't send you your poster!

1.122B Hot Fix

We've been very happy with the action and response to patch 1.122B thus far! The dynamic underpopulation bonuses, tower layout and portal keep changes have been very well received and we're loving all the awesome feedback on the pet-class changes!

Below you'll find some quick adjustments and general bug fixes. Thanks again for the feedback and we'll see you in the frontiers!

Realm vs Realm

  • The siege tower hookpoint on the northeast corner of Dun Crimthainn should now be visible when shift+right-clicking on the keep and showing the hookpoints.
    • Please note that if you're currently logged in, you will need to logout and run the patcher before this change takes effect.
  • The siege tent at Nottmoor Watchtower will now spawn correctly.
  • The teleporter NPCs at each strength relic town no longer give incorrect information about the length of the portal timer. All portal ceremonies are 60s so long as the safe port supply line is open.

Class Balance

General

  • Several icons have had their widgets, borders, and icons adjusted and fixed.
    • Please note that if you're currently logged in, you will need to logout and run the patcher before these changes takes effect.

Bonedancer

  • Bonedancer “Totem” have been changed as follows:
    • Only one totem spawns at the target location, but effects are still radius based.
    • Totem effects now trigger as soon as the totem is cast, and continues to subsequently pulse as normal.

Druid

  • Cloak of the Loyal Druid has had its disease cure rate reduced to every 15 seconds, down from every 30 seconds.

Enchanter

  • The “Enchantment of …” spells now properly overwrite themselves on groupmates.
  • The Underhill Ally’s health regeneration buff has been removed.
    • This conflicted with the Bard’s heal song. The melee resistance buffs from the ally and its healing capability offer enough utility without needing to increase the regen buff’s value.
  • The level 48 PBAoE spell now does its correct damage.
  • The Loyal Enchanter class cloak /use add-radius ability now properly affects the group.
  • The Enchantment of Mana ability should properly function for all classes now.
Necromancer

  • The Revert Form ability now correctly shows up in the abilities list.
  • Necromancer ‘Ground’ abilities have changed as follows:
    • Only one ground storm spawns at the target location, but effects are still radius based.
    • Ground effects now trigger as soon as the ground is cast, and continues to subsequently pulse as normal.
  • Chthonic Form changes:
    • Now properly grants its parry and weaponskill buffs at all levels.
    • Now properly releases summoned pets at all levels.
  • Decrepit Form’s health regeneration has been scaled throughout level progression. The level 50 regeneration remains unchanged.
    • This will lower regen rates throughout the lower levels, mainly to balance out the previously very high regeneration rate in battlegrounds.
  • Power Lock now correctly stuns the Necromancer while grappling and draining its target’s power.
    • You cannot purge this stun, and it does not provide an immunity.
Paladin

  • The first tick of the Selfless Devotion RR5 now correctly fires.

Get your Hot Fix fix before the weekend!

World

  • Several quests' text has been adjusted to direct players to the strength relic towns instead of Caer Berkstead, Nottmoor Faste, or Dun Crimthainn for turn-ins.
  • The Chapter 5 of the Otherworlds Campaign now correctly grants credit to groups who are not part of a battlegroup as well as to battlegroups.
  • The correct Royal Accountant NPCs are now found in each realm's strength relic town.

Realm vs Realm

  • Keep keys can once again be turned into the supply chests at Caer Berkstead, Nottmoor Faste, and Dun Crimthainn.

  • The Mana Barrier magic ablative line of spells can no longer be right-click removed to avoid the immunity timer.

Minstrel
  • The siege damage, protection and haste chants should properly affect group-mates now.

Necromancer
  • Chthonic Form should no longer drop randomly.
  • Painworking's lower level versions of parry-chance buffs now correctly overwrite the Chthonic Form's innate parry buff.
  • Nethersbane is now correctly removed from the Necromancer's inventory on logout.
    • This item is also removed on equip if not 50 painworking specialization.
  • A bug causing the Death Servant line of bolt spells from doing much more damage than other bolt type spells has been corrected.
  • The Spirit Form stealth lore detection radius is now affected by the Necromancer's Death Servant specialization.

Midwinter Festival

The days grow short, a chill is in the air, and warm fires glow in our homes. The Midwinter Festival has come once again to the Realms! Visit the festival grounds to take part in the festivities and challenges.

Olibar, the Midwinter Tomte, will be paying frequent visits to Castle Sauvage, Svasud Faste, and Druim Ligen seeking assistance. He seems to have lost some Midwinter presents throughout the battlegrounds. Speak to him if you wish to assist him. Players on Gaheris between the levels of 35 to 49 can speak to him to receive a special Frontier Gift Retrieval quest instead.

Santa Nicholas, Lucia of the Light, and Jack Frost will arrive with gifts for the people of the realms, but there’s been a bit of a crisis: their presents were hijacked and are now in the possession of dangerous enemies.  They will offer the Saving Midwinter quest to all adventurers level 48 and above. Save Midwinter and earn a new Frozen Cloak of Midwinter and a Frozen Medal of Honor! Visit them at the Winter Villages outside of Ludlow, Ardee, and Vasudheim.

In Albion, Clara sets up a giant tree at the festival tents. Speak with her for information on obtaining an appropriately-sized one for your own home or yard. Nearby, Sister Samantha is collecting toys for the children of Albion. She offers some fine holiday greenery as a reward to those generous souls who answer her call.

In Midgard, Kevin somehow manages to decorate a tree all for himself. Ask him about it and he may give you a few pointers regarding your own arboreal home decorating. The Gythja of Frigg is taking donations of toys from passers-by and granting them wreaths and garlands in return.

In Hibernia, the rather small elf Noelle brings her tree to the festival grounds. She will help you start your own holiday tradition if you want one of your own. Matron Elleweh is looking for assistance in gathering gifts for the children of Hibernia, with a promise of some festive decorations in return.

The Trinkets for Tots quest is available for all levels.

The Midwinter Tree quests start at level 35, however rumor has it that there may be a more advanced challenge to follow for those of level 48 and up.

Midwinter will start today, December 14th, and will run until January 17th, 2017.

A Happy Midwinter to all from the Dark Age of Camelot team, and we’ll see you in the Frontiers!
